Dental implants are the best long term solution to tooth loss available. Dental implants earned their popularity thanks to their resemblance to natural teeth and the added protection they provide against tooth loss related health issues.
Dental implants work by using biocompatible titanium implant fixtures which are surgically implanted in the jawbone. They serve as the basis for the restoration piece, which replaces the missing teeth.
A process called osseointegration fuses the jawbone to the implants, giving them a sturdy foundation, promoting jawbone health, and keeping them in your mouth where they belong. Continue reading to learn more about our implant solutions.
For patients missing one tooth or singular teeth in multiple areas, Dr. Reger recommends a singular implant topped with a custom made porcelain crown. He’ll customize your crown to blend in seamlessly with the rest of your smile.
During single tooth restoration, Dr. Reger will install the titanium fixture after which you’ll return to our San Antonio office for your permanent restoration once osseointegration is complete. This process usually takes anywhere from four to six months. Then, you’ll have your crown installed and walk out of our San Antonio office with your new, complete smile.
If you’re missing multiple adjacent teeth, Dr. Reger may recommend an implant supported bridge. This is a singular restoration supported by two implants, one at each end of the bridge.
Unlike traditional bridges, implant supported bridges don’t rely on your surrounding teeth for support. This saves your healthy teeth from being shaved down and becoming more prone to decay. Because this restoration requires fewer implants, your visit and healing period will be much shorter.
For patients missing their upper, lower, or both arches of teeth, Dr. Reger recommends an innovative new approach called All-on-4. With this treatment, Dr. Reger can replace an entire arch of teeth with only four implants and a singular permanent denture.
Dr. Reger will perform any necessary extractions and install four implants per arch. Then, he’ll attach a temporary restoration that you’ll wear until your permanent restoration is ready.
The All-on-4 process is often ideal for patients who have lost jaw bone density because the implants make strategic use of your existing bone structure. This eliminates the need for supplemental procedures like bone grafting and increases your chances of candidacy. With fewer required implants, you’ll save both time and money.
For patients who want a more secure option than traditional dentures, Dr. Reger recommends implant supported dentures.
Implant supported dentures are supported by four to six implants. Your restoration piece snaps on and off, so it’ll stay attached while still being easy to remove for cleaning.
Similarly to All-on-4 and implant supported bridges, implant supported dentures can save you time and money by using a minimal amount of implants.
The replacement tooth is the only visible portion of an implant. This porcelain or acrylic restoration blends seamlessly with your teeth, giving you the stunning smile of your dreams.
The implant portion of your restoration is attached to your custom dental crowns. Your crowns are visible above the gum line and are just as durable as enamel for chewing and speaking. Dental crowns are the ideal restoration to help dental implants work comfortably.
Depending on your oral health and how many teeth are missing, Dr. Reger will find a dental implant solution that’s right for your smile. Each patient is different and will need to have an oral exam at their consultation to determine the best treatment.
During your initial consultation, Dr. Reger will carefully examine your teeth, gums, and jawbone. From there, he will be able to create a personalized treatment plan and discuss which dental implant solution will bring you long-lasting, beautiful results.
Same-day dental implants are offered at our dental office in San Antonio and are available to patients who qualify. Also known as All-on-4, this dental implant solution can replace a full arch of missing teeth in just one day.
At your consultation with Dr. Reger, he will decide if you’re a good candidate for All-on-4 dental implants. Typically, a good candidate for this treatment will have sufficient bone density and good oral health.
